Tonight was the kick-off night for the Riley County Fair! The Riley County Fair is held in Manhattan, KS at CICO Park. The fair is held this year from July 21st through July 25th. This year's fair features traditional games, rides, and of course food! Fairgoers can also enjoy various 4-H activities and showing competitions as well as the Kaw Valley Rodeo.
The Kaw Valley Rodeo begins on July 21st and runs through the final night which is July 23rd. Night one of the Rodeo is, "Tough Enough to Wear Pink." It is also Military Appreciation Night, tickets to the rodeo for Military Appreciation night are first-come, first-serve. Following tickets are available at a discount to Military Members. You can follow the events of the Kaw Valley Rodeo on their Facebook page or the Kaw Valley Rodeo website.
It was fun to see the Midway lit up with all the food vendors serving their creations from the classic funnel cake to the over-the-top food, and ALL the fried candy bars you can think of! There were several local organizations as well at the fair getting in on the fun. On my way to get my funnel cake, I decided to take a quick walk through the area with the carnival games and rides. The familiar sounds of the fair were a very welcome sound after such a tough year.
Make sure to follow the events page on the Riley County Fair website so you don't miss a thing! They have some fun activities planned this year like a cornhole tournament on Sunday. Teams can sign up at 11 am on Sunday and the tournament starts at noon.
I hope everyone makes it out at least for a little bit to the fair and enjoys a fun and safe time while there!
