The Riley County Fair is held in Manhattan, KS at CICO Park. The fair is held from July 27th through July 31st. While many 4-H events have already taken place, for most, the fair kicks off on the 27th with the opening night of the WEEE Entertainment Carnival and the Kaw Valley Rodeo. This year's fair features traditional games, rides, and of course food! Fairgoers can also enjoy all the additional activities and various 4-H showing competitions that will continue throughout the week and weekend in both the barns of the fairgrounds and in Potroff Hall!
The Kaw Valley Rodeo begins on July 27th and runs through the final night which is July 29th. Night one of the Rodeo is, "Military Appreciation Night." Military and their family get in at a reduced rate, tickets are first-come, first-serve. Friday night, July 28th, is "Tough Enough To Wear Pink," promoting cancer research. Saturday, July 29th, is the final night for the rodeo, and will have the Brummett Award and Appreciate Recognition for all the individuals that do so much for the rodeo every year! You can follow the events of the Kaw Valley Rodeo on their Facebook page or the Kaw Valley Rodeo website.
It was fun to see the Midway lit up with all the food vendors serving their creations from the classic funnel cake to the over-the-top food, don't forget to try ALL the various fried candy bars! It is a tradition for me to get a funnel cake every year at the fair, there is just something about a funnel cake at the fair. On my way to get my funnel cake, I decided to take a quick walk through the carnival area on my way to the midway and it brought back so many fun memories. This is something special about the sights and sounds of a county fair!
Attendees can also try their hand at traditional carnival games like Derby Time, Ring Toss, and more! You will also find several local organizations as well at the fair getting in on the fun and sharing information about the area and their businesses. On my way to get my funnel cake, I decided to take a quick walk through the area with the carnival games and rides. I love the sights and sounds of a county fair!
