On my 39th birthday, I wanted to do something fun & different. Looking back, that random ad in my newsfeed for The Little Apple Pilates Company would change my world!

I think for most of us, going to a new gym can be a bit intimidating, at least at this point in my life it definitely was for me. For the majority of my life, I was an athlete, but now I am out of shape, plain and simple. I knew I needed to find something and had tried several places in town and a couple of personal trainers. While they were great, they were just not what I personally needed.

On my 39th birthday, I wanted to do something fun and different for my birthday. At the time, I could not think of what I wanted to do and began searching online for ideas. Randomly, I came across an ad that was advertising an aerial class at The Little Apple Pilates Company here in Manhattan, KS.

Of course, my next thought was, could I do that? In fact, I can still remember messaging Hilary, the owner, and asking the big questions. You know the important ones like fitness level requirements, will I hurt myself, and of course how sturdy is that fabric?LOL Without hesitation, she said anyone, can do this! My next thought was, HA, I will be the judge of that, but what is the worst that could happen?

With blind faith and my forever partner in crime humoring me, my bestie Joey, I signed us up for an aerial class to celebrate my 39th Birthday! I am pretty sure I told her the same thing I was telling myself, "What's the worst that could happen?" I have to say, it was so much fun! We spun, flipped, and most importantly we laughed so hard at ourselves. Hilary was great in supporting us and encouraging us every step of the way. Little did I know where this one little random ad would take me.

If you are looking to try reformers or Pilates in Manhattan, you need to call, Hilary at Little Apple Pilates Company! Little Apple Pilates Co in Manhattan, KS is the perfect place to learn about Pilates!

As we were leaving I walked past the reformers and wondered, could I do those as well? I definitely don't meet the body type of a typical yoga/Pilates person. Yes, I know better, but we have all been there!! Anyways, a few weeks later I messaged Hilary again, only this time it was about the reformers. Her answer, 100% the same, yes, they are for everyone! I scheduled my first class and I was instantly hooked! For months I have gone for two sessions every week with Hilary and I feel great! My years of back pain from working in healthcare have basically gone away along with my dependency on regular Chiropractic care!

I surprised myself with how religious I was about attending every session. Rarely did I miss it, it was on my calendar and that was it, I was going! After several months of working on the reformer and getting to know more of the instructors, I wondered what other classes I could do. While I enjoy consistency, I do know that life is lived outside our comfort zone and so far it has really worked out for me.

My first Cardio Dance class at Little Apple Pilates Co. was a total learning experience! My feet and arms were all over the place, but thankfully the lights were low so it made no difference to anyone else that I was totaling screwing up.

The class I would take on next was Dance Cardio. While this was a laughable choice for me since I had not danced since my middle school dance team, that is a different story! Regardless, Hilary encouraged me to take Cardio Dance and again I thought, what's the worst that could happen? Without hesitation, she said, "you will be fine!" To which I replied, if I think I am going to pass out, I will just leave....she said that was fine! LOL So we had a deal and again, I signed up.

My first Cardio Dance class at Little Apple Pilates Co. was a total learning experience! My feet and arms were all over the place, but thankfully the lights were low so it made no difference to anyone else that I was totaling screwing up. In fact, after I attended more classes I learned, our mistakes are laughed away. What a concept in today's society, a place where it is 100% ok to make mistakes, and when you do, just laugh, and dance on! As you might have guessed, Dance Cardio has been added to my "must-do" and I try to get there when my schedule allows.

When people ask me about Little Apple Pilates, I echo Hilary and say, "It's for everyBODY!" If you are looking for a place that has so much more than one defined program then look no further than Little Apple Pilates here in Manhattan, KS.
