Golf is definitely a popular sport in our area, a bonus is that Golf Course Management is even of the majors at Kansas state university so we receive the benefit of having very knowledgeable staff at all the facilities! The Golf Course Management Program is incredibly respected and allowed for several courses to work together with the university, allowing the students to receive first-hand experience!
In the area, we have several options to play for all different levels. Whether you are a scratch golfer or just getting started, I promise there is a course for you! While a couple of the courses listed below are member-only, there are several that are public courses as well. If you are interested in a membership, you can find a variety of membership options at these clubs that could suit your needs and/or budget!
Stagg Hill Golf Course is located right outside of Manhattan, KS. This course is a public 18-hole golf course! While the course is a public course, there are membership options available for those interested. Stagg Hill has a full pro-shop, driving range, and practice green. Stagg Hill Golf Course is also a very popular course for tournaments in town. If lessons are of interest to you, there are options for that also at Stagg Hill Golf Course. Colbert Hills is ranked the #1 Public Golf Course in Kansas and was designed by Jeff Brauer and Jim Colbert himself! Colbert Hills course is spread out over 315 acres and is a challenging course for all levels. Partnerships with Kansas State University and K-State Golf allow an amazing partnership and many research projects to take place at Colbert Hills. This course features two ponds with several creeks, large greens, and a variety of grasses to keep you challenging your game. If you don't have enough time for 18 holes, the Par 3 course is a very popular option!
Wildcat Creek Golf and Fitness offers a 9-hold Golf Course in Manhattan, KS! This public course has six par threes and three par fours. Wildcat Creek Golf Course is a fun course and is perfect if you are looking to get in a quick 9-holes or have a little extra time and can make another round for 18-holes. Wildcat Creek also offers a large driving range in addition to their putting green!
Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Junction City is a very popular course in the area! Designed by Richard Watson, this course cover 160 acres and was built in 1981. This course is designed to allow you to take in the rolling hills of Kansas from its namesake. Golfers will enjoy the zoysia-grass fairways and tees at Rolling Meadows. The course is challenging for all levels, especially with its twenty-nine sand bunkers and six lakes throughout the course.
Wamego Country Club originally opened as a nine-hole golf course in 1920 the Wamego Country Club has expanded with the addition of nine-holes in 2004 and the clubhouse expansion in 20! The original nine-holes at the Wamego Country Club were designed by Chick Trout and the back nine by Wamego, KS native Eric Langvardt. The Manhattan Country Club is situated on 160 acres in the Flint Hills of Kansas. With a variety of water holes, long drives and tree lines, this course is wonderful to pay and is considered to be one of the best courses to play! Manhattan Country Club is located close to Kansas State Univeristy with breathtaking views of Downtown Manhattan, and the Flint HIlls of Kansas. The Manhattan Country Club was originally opened in 1918 as a nine-hole course on 75 acres. In 1923 an additional 75 acres were purchased and another nine-holes were added to the course. With several membership options at the club it is a great option for families with a variety of amenities such as family events, gym and swimming pool to name a few.
