This event formally known as the Sundown Salute began in Milford, KS. A decision this year has that event moving back to where it all began in Milford, KS, and being replaced on the 4th of July weekend with Freedom Fest in Junction City, KS. Freedom Fest in Junction City, KS is a 5-day event that kicks off on June 30th with the Freedom Fest Carnival. The music on opening night is the 1st Infantry Division Army Band and Paramount, an 80s Rock Tribute Band. This Saturday, July 1st is day two of the carnival, Freedom on Wheels so bring your non-motorized wheeled vehicles and ride on Washington between 6th and 10th Street. Enjoy various performances throughout the day and close the day out with 90s Country Night!
July 2nd attendees can participate in Worship in the Park, a Hotdog Eating Contest, more performances, day three of the Carnival and the event wraps up with Christian night for the musical performance. On July 3rd come check out the Army Vehicle Static Display, day four of the Freedom Fest Carnival, and enjoy the sounds of Motown and Rock Bands that evening.
