Cinco De Mayo Taqueria is one of the newest Mexican restaurants in Manhattan, KS and they are serving up some seriously delicious Mexican food! My first trip was at lunchtime a few weeks ago and it was so good, that I went back for dinner! Not even kidding! At this point, I have lost track of how many times I have been and I am totally ok with that.
My first meal consisted of a variety of street tacos all packed full of flavor and they were beyond filling. I ordered three tacos and was only able to eat two of them. LOL With the portion sizes, my eyes were way bigger than my stomach. The tacos at Cinco De May Taqueria are so good, their homemade tortillas are packed full of fish, shrimp, and carne asada. Then the variety of toppings really took everything to the next level.
For my next trip, you know for dinner the same day, I learned from my earlier order and went with a two-taco order, not a three! My husband ordered their Molcajete', some might not be totally familiar with this, but a Molcajete is the Mexican version of the mortar and pestle. This stone bowl is heated so it was screaming hot and is filled with a variety of meats, veggies, cheeses, and more. The Molcajete sauce is a mix of roasted tomatoes and chilies, every restaurant has its own family recipe and this one like all the others is absolutely delicious! If you order their Molcajete know that is definitely big enough to share!
I am not sure I have ever gone to a Mexican restaurant and not ordered cheese dip and or Guacamole! Cinco De Mayo Taqueria has its own spin on the traditional white cheese dip you see on most menus. Theirs is called Cinco de Mayo dip, which is white cheese dip, tomatoes, onions, and beef mixed together. Of course, you can stay with the traditional white cheese dip, but it is nice to have an option.
A self-proclaimed guacamole expert, this guac has always been super fresh and like everything else, delicious. Cinco De Mayo Taqueria has definitely become one of our favorites in town. Every person I have recommended Cinco De Mayo Taqueria to has said the same thing as us, and they have also become regulars. The freshness of their food and their bold flavors are worth the trip and just remember, if you go for lunch you might go back for dinner!
For those wondering about the location, it is in the old Baan Thai location off Fort Riley Blvd. and Martin Luther King Blvd. You can keep up on their daily specials via their Facebook page here, or order online from their website here!
Enjoy!
Side note, at this time they do not sell alcohol, just a head's up for those going. For us and everyone else we have recommended, the food has been so good that it alone keeps us coming back.
