My bestie just had her 50th Bday so we headed to celebrate in Las Vegas for the weekend. After landing Friday we checked in to our hotel, and head out to take in the sights and grab a great meal!
If a quick weekend trip is what you are looking for, look no further than a quick flight to FABULOUS LAS VEGAS!! Fly out Friday from Manhattan, after a quick layover in Dallas/FortWorth you will arrive in Las Vegas by late afternoon, then head back on Monday for a great couple of days getaway.
My bestie just had her 50th Bday so we headed out to celebrate in Las Vegas for the weekend. After landing Friday we head to check-in at our hotel and then we were off to Paris to grab a great meal! After dinner, a few more of our friends arrived and we enjoyed stretching our legs and walking the strip to enjoy the Bellagio Fountains, a few drinks, and of course a little action at the casino!
One of the best Drag shows I have ever been to! The Liquid Drag Show Brunch was located in Treasure Island and several of the performers were finalists on RuPaul’s show, Drag Race.
Saturday morning we went to one of the best Drag shows I have ever been to! The Liquid Drag Show Brunch was located in Treasure Island and several of the performers were finalists on RuPaul’s show, Drag Race. The hour-long show was action-packed with dancing, singing, and hilarious comedy. Once they found out we were from Kansas, the jokes came. They didn’t go for the classics like, “Do you have a dog named Toto,” but they definitely had their fun and we also got a great laugh out of it. The show included bottomless mimosas which always helps get the crowd going.
In the evening we enjoyed a great meal to celebrate the two birthdays in our group at True Food Kitchen. We enjoyed their super healthy fair which included everything from Flank Steak, Pizza, Poke’ Bowls, Dumplings and Humus!! It was all so delicious we left completely stuffed! Side note, if you can’t made it to Vegas but decide to check out Denver. They also have a True Food Kitchen!!
Sunday morning was definitely a little slower going for us, our adventures had caught up to us a bit. I mean, we are not as young as we used to be! LOL We rallied though and enjoyed Breakfast at the restaurant, Pantry in The Mirage! Fortunately, Joey (Bestie with the bday) remembered a place I wanted to go to called Black Tap! Black Tap features Crazyshakes and over-the-top bar food. We decided lunch was going to be light, Milkshakes!
After a little walking and a lot of shopping in The Venetian, we made out way to Black Tap to put our names on the waitlist. These milkshakes were better than we could have ever imagined! Thankfully we decided to order some apps, queso dip, and fried pickles to balance out the sweet with the salt. We didn’t know it, but it become one of our best decisions we made!
Shortly after a nap which was induced by a crash from the sugar high, we got ready to head down to Freemont Street. While we were waiting for their urn on the Zipline, we had dinner downtown at Tony Romo’s. It was an $8.99 Prime Rib dinner. Where else can you go to get an $8.99 dinner except in Vegas???My friends had tickets to zipline down Freemont Street. Of course, this girl stayed with her feet firmly planted on the ground! They said it was awesome and we’re so happy they went, I think it was a 10/10 for a must-do if you ask them!
Since I have been back in Manhattan, several people have asked what Vegas was like. The best way I can describe it is, “the same but different!” It is the same in the aspect that there were a ton of people, great food and so many places to gamble. Different in the fact that a ton of places close at 10 pm, not as many shows and you really need to make reservations well in advance of your trip! With most places at 25% occupancy, it can be tough to get into really popular places to eat!
We had an amazing time and although there were a few surprises, like places closing at 10 pm, we made the best of it and the energy was still the same. After all, Vegas will ALWAYS be Vegas and a place that everyone should go to at least once to experience it. As with most of the world, hopefully, it continues to open back up to more visitors and more shows. The Cirque Du Soleil shows are my favorites and I can’t wait to enjoy them perform again!
So again, VIVA LAS VEGAS!!
